What is the Household Service Scheme (HSS) for the Elderly?

HSS is a pilot programme which allows Active Global to hire and train qualified foreign workers who will provide basic care for the Elderly. 

HSS for the Elderly is ideal for families who:

- Need a temporary replacement for their usual caregiver,

- Need regular support when their usual caregiver is on leave,

- Have regular care needs, but not to the extent of hiring a full-time live-in caregiver, etc.

  • The list of care activities allowed under this pilot programme include:

    - Personal Care tasks, including bathing, dressing, toileting, etc.,

    - Assistance with Activities of daily living, including transferring, oral feeding, light housekeeping, running simple errands like going to market, etc.,

    - Assistance with Medications (prescribed by a Medical Professional),

    - Mind-stimulating activities, companionship, going on walks and other recreational activities,

    - Simple exercise as prescribed by a healthcare professional

    • The following care activities are not allowed under this pilot: Advanced care tasks such as tube-feeding, cleaning of stoma bag, tracheostomy care etc.

Cost of HSS

  • Fees start at S$108 per half day (4 hours), S$229 per full days of 10 hours (with GST)
  • The services are sold by bundles of minimum 4 sessions
  • Please contact us for details about our fees
  • You may be eligible for AIC's Home Caregiving Grant of S$250 to S$400 per month. Active Global's team can help you applying for this grant.

OUR HSS STAFF IS TRAINED IN SINGAPORE AND OVERSEAS

Our HSS Care Staff alll have previous experience and training in Elderly Care, and they have been selected by our Nurses after a stringent interview process. 

All our HSS Care Staff undergo compulsory trainings and re-trainings, as well as regular skills evaluation, given by our team of local Nurses at our fully equipped in-house training centre in Novena. They are trained to CPR and AED.

Being pioneers of professional caregiving services in Singapore since 2013, we have invested heavily in training from inception. Active Global has also developed a proprietary training curriculum with the support of international experts in Nursing and Geriatrics for caregivers.

Ethically Recruited

  • Ethical recruiting is the core belief of Active Global. This means that we only recruit people based on merit. It also means that our HSS Care Staff have very high incentives to perform well and stay affiliated with Active Global over the long term.
  • No agency fee means higher net pay of 25% to 40% for our HSS Care Staff. We are fully aware and acknowledge that caregiving is a tough job and strongly believe that they deserve to be paid fairly.
  • Our HSS Care Staff use their pay to save for the future, get out of poverty, send their children to a better school, pay for their family’s medical bills etc.
